Forza Horizon 6 — The Complete Beginner's Guide
A clean, no-fluff onboarding for the May 19, 2026 launch. Updated as new information drops.
Last updated:
Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 19, 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S and — for the first time in series history — PlayStation 5. The Horizon Festival heads to Japan, with a mix of dense Tokyo-style streets, twisty mountain touge and sweeping rural coastlines.
Your first hour
- Finish the intro prologue (you'll be offered a couple of starter cars — pick one tuned for grip, not raw speed).
- Open the festival map and unlock the first Outpost — this also enables fast travel from one location.
- Buy the Fast Travel board upgrade ASAP from the player house menu.
- Hit the first Showcase mission — they reliably drop a free, valuable car.
Where to go next
- Best Starter Car — concrete first picks.
- Money Guide — fastest CR farming methods.
- Tuning Guide — make stock cars feel right.
- Japan Map Guide — what each region rewards.
- PS5 Guide — performance modes, controller, trophies.
Series veterans coming from FH5
Your FH5 → FH6 transition is mostly muscle-memory friendly, but Japan rewards smaller-footprint cars more than Mexico did. Plan to keep one compact AWD hot-hatch in your garage for the dense urban sections.
What we won't pretend to know yet
Some launch details (final car list, exact trophy structure, day-one patch notes) only become final at release. We'll update this hub within hours of the global unlock — bookmark the pages you care about.
Hours 1–10 — The Smart Onboarding
- Hour 1: prologue + first Outpost. Pick the AWD starter, not the muscle one. See Best Starter Car.
- Hour 2–3: first 2 Showcases. They drop free cars worth ~500k CR each.
- Hour 3–5: buy the cheapest player home. Unlocks daily Wheelspin.
- Hour 5–7: complete the first Festival Playlist weekly. See Festival Playlist Guide.
- Hour 7–10: first Goliath loop for CR. See Money Guide.
The Three Big Time-Sinks (and Their Fast Paths)
- Credits → Money Guide (~1M CR/hr after rank 20).
- XP / Influence → XP Farm (Drift Zone repeats).
- Skill Points → Skill Points Farm (Skill Song chains).
Platform-Specific First Steps
- PS5 players — start with our PS5 Edition Guide for DualSense haptics + performance mode pick.
- PC players — set graphics first: PC Graphics Settings.
- Steam Deck — see Steam Deck setup.
- Wheel users — Wheel Settings for Logitech / Thrustmaster / Fanatec.
Japan-Specific Beginner Mistakes
- Bringing a hypercar to narrow roads — the most common newbie mistake. Tokyo back-streets eat S2-class cars. Keep a hot hatch in your garage.
- Ignoring touge events — they pay better CR per minute than Goliath in the early game. See Touge Battles.
- Spending Wheelspins on cars you'll instantly delete — most early Wheelspin cars are filler. Convert to CR.
- Not using Photo Mode — Photo Challenges are a free 50k CR / week.
