Mode breakdown
- Quality — 4K upscaled, 30fps, ray-traced reflections. Best for cruise + Photo Mode.
- Performance — dynamic 1440p–4K, 60fps. Default for racing.
- 120Hz — 1080p, 120fps. Only if your TV/monitor supports HDMI 2.1 120Hz.
PS5 Pro (PSSR)
PS5 Pro players can expect a fourth implicit mode: 4K reconstructed + 60fps + ray tracing, thanks to PSSR upscaling. Verified at launch.
VRR & input lag
- VRR-enabled TVs benefit most from Performance mode.
- Disable TV motion smoothing (Motion Flow / TruMotion) for racing.
- Game Mode on your TV is mandatory for sub-30ms input lag.
